CSC-EDIC Participates in the 2nd EDIC Annual Gathering in Brussels

30 September 2026 | Brussels, Belgium

CSC-EDIC participated in the 2nd European Digital Infrastructure Consortia (EDIC) Annual Gathering, organised by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Communications Networks, Content and Technology (DG CONNECT) in Brussels on 30 September 2026.

The event brought together representatives of established and emerging EDICs to review progress, share success stories and discuss the future of the EDIC framework as a key instrument for Europe’s digital transformation.

Technological Sovereignty at the Heart of Europe’s Digital Future

A central theme of the gathering was the growing importance of European technological sovereignty, particularly in emerging and strategically significant technologies.

Discussions highlighted the European Commission’s strategic perspective on strengthening Europe’s digital autonomy, alongside the achievements of established EDICs and the opportunities presented by emerging initiatives.

The event also addressed the future of the EDIC ecosystem within the next Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF), emphasising the need for sustainable operational models, stronger industry engagement and continued institutional and non-financial support.

Cybersecurity Education as a Cross-Cutting European Priority

Although CSC-EDIC was not the subject of a dedicated presentation, its participation provided valuable opportunities to engage with other EDIC representatives and highlight the importance of cybersecurity education and training at all educational levels.

Cybersecurity awareness and skills development are increasingly relevant across all areas of modern life and digital activity. As such, they represent a horizontal priority that can support the objectives of the wider EDIC ecosystem, regardless of each consortium’s specific technological focus.

Building Connections Across the EDIC Ecosystem

The afternoon Community of Practice session facilitated exchanges between established and emerging EDICs, enabling discussions on shared challenges, lessons learned and potential future synergies.

For CSC-EDIC, these exchanges offered opportunities to explore potential cooperation in areas including multilingual training, digital education, trusted certification and emerging technologies.

Participation in the gathering reaffirmed CSC-EDIC’s commitment to contributing to a secure, skilled and digitally sovereign Europe, through European cooperation and the advancement of cybersecurity education and capacity building.
